Dental Hygienist Job Toronto

Dentistry on King – one of downtown Toronto’s top dental offices – is looking to hire a Dental Hygienist for a permanent position. A rare opportunity to join a well-established practice with over 20 years of experience. The job duties include conducting initial patient screenings, cleaning teeth (e.g. removing plaque) and educating patients on oral health and preventative care. You’ll also assist the dentist on duty craft treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handle dental emergencies.

We are looking for the right person to join our caring team of dental professional at Dentistry on King. We strive to provide a pleasant experience for all patients at our office. The primary responsibility at this position is to provide dental hygiene services to patients, help our office grow by serving patients in an efficient and professional manner and provide an excellent overall patient experience. Our ideal candidate is a personable and highly professional individual who loves their love.

 

Responsibilities

  • Patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse
  • Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
  • Sterilize dental instruments properly
  • Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
  • Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
  • Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
  • Educate patients of all ages on proper dental care (For example, showing good brushing techniques, etc.)
  • Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
  • Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
  • Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
  • Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
  • Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
  • Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
  • Performing office management duties

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession
  • Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • A patient and friendly personality
  • Attention to detail
  • Open to feedback and being proactive at work
  • Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
  • Diploma in Dental Hygiene
  • Valid licence to practice
  • Attention to detail is a must!

  • Must be a self-starter and motivated
  • Strong work ethic with high standards and integrity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
