Dental Hygienist

We are looking for the right person to join our caring team of dental professional at Dentistry on King. We strive to provide a pleasant experience for all patients at our office. The primary responsibility at this position is to provide dental hygiene services to patients, help our office grow by serving patients in an efficient and professional manner and provide an excellent overall patient experience. Responsibilities

• Patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse
• Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination
• Sterilize dental instruments properly
• Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
• Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontitis
• Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g. remove plaque or apply fluoride)
• Educate patients of all ages on proper dental care (For example, showing good brushing techniques, etc.)
• Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
• Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
• Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides)
• Assist dentists with selecting appropriate treatments for various diseases (including oral cancer)
• Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
• Performing office management duties

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession
• Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
• Outstanding communication skills
• A patient and friendly personality
• Attention to detail
• Open to feedback and being proactive at work
• Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
• Diploma in Dental Hygiene
• Valid licence to practice
• Attention to detail is a must!
• Problem-solving/critical thinking skills- must be independent and able to handle tasks and challenges
