Overview
Wisdom tooth removal is a surgical procedure where your dentist extracts one to four permanent adult teeth that are located at the back of your mouth. These teeth generally cause complications when they begin to appear (erupt) in your mouth. When wisdom teeth grow at odd angles and cause issues they are referred to as impacted wisdom teeth.
Types of Wisdom Teeth Impaction
↗️ Mesial Impaction: Appear at an angle toward the next tooth (second molar)
⬆️ Vertical Impaction: Appear straight up or down like other teeth but stay trapped within the jawbone
➡️ Horizontal Impaction: Appear in perpendicular to the other teeth, as if the wisdom tooth is sideways within the jawbone
↖️ Distal Impaction: Appear at an angle toward the back of the mouth
